It's been awhile since Google Street View shot this for Google Map of the island of Korcula, but we'd like to show it once again, if you haven't seen it yet... 

People who visit Korčula often carry their bicycle with themselves (but to mention, there are bicycle rental shops on the island). Many of those people are quite familiar with the island and the joy of peaceful cycling through the beautiful nature. In previous posts about historical locations in Blato we wrote about the monuments and cultural heritage located in various parts of Blato county, and this time we will write about the ones that can be found by exploring the depths of the Adriatic sea. The maritime archaeological sites are scattered around the island of Korcula, and in this text we will focus on the ones located in the county of Blato and the nearby areas.

Because it has what children seek for: the magic of the two wheels that can take us anywhere, the wind in your hair, the open road that leads to the unknown lands.. On the crossroads of worlds and eras, the island of Korcula is interesting to those who have a bicycle and to those which are about to buy one. Because of that, keep somewhere in mind that, while you drive through these roads, your paths have already been traversed by various travellers in the past: cave men, ancient Greeks and Romans, Illyrians, Slavic peoples (to whom belongs the tribe of Croats), Venetians and other Italians, French people and all other nationalities that conquer these lands now as tourists. All of them left something behind, and it’s up to you to read their obvious and hidden messages after all that sun, sea and pines...

Once you arrive on an island, it is difficult to think about anything except the sea and the nature. But if you choose an evening to visit the old parts of Blato you will find out that Blato and the island of Korčula are more than a tourist location.
